This workshop explores the porous boundary between one's subjective vision and the photographic subjects one elects to explore. Through discussion, critique, and assignments, students excavate the intimate reasons underlying the process of their image making, learning creative ways to establish point of view and to reframe the world through their own visual metaphors. We review the work of photographers noted for their personal approach to stories or narratives—Graciela Iturbide, Letizia Battaglia, Daido Moriyama, Jim Goldberg, Rinko Kawauchi, Morten Andersen, Adam Broomberg & Oliver Chanarin.
