Interesting, the curatorial cliché of describing works as "meditations about" on this or that theme or issue. (This along with "addressing".) I encounter this again as I review my clichés, noting the usual avoidance, and the cautious modes of people-adventure in the askance. Not seeing, not looking, not engaging with (HS says engagement, involvement, as he requires the wide angle forcing of the personal shells of both subject and photographer - which most scary?) ; but then wondering, circling, reverie-ing, knitting up thin reticular connections, in preciosity
and in work. Wondering about the rarified space I am able to take in, and the slower, thinner texture of society it unfolds, for perusal and for the deterritorialised engagement of private mulling over. Virtual people. The cheat of it,
and the work of it. The space of the thin mobile line between them. Uncomfortable
and potential.
